“You should always sleep alone”, Doctor says couples shouldn’t sleep next to each other in the same bed if they want to get a good night’s sleep and it warns about the damaging effect sharing a bed can have on a person’s health

In a video, posted on his social media account, the doctor explains why couples should always sleep alone. The famous doctor says couples shouldn’t sleep next to each other in the same bed if they want to get a good night’s sleep. The medical professional also warns couples of the damaging effect sharing a bed can have on a person’s health. Couples, who have tried sleeping apart, told the doctor that it really did help their relationship survive. In the video, the doctor also explains that a lack of sleep can have a serious physical and psychological impact.

Dr Karan Rajan posted a video on his social media account, with more than 4.8 million followers, saying that “you should always sleep alone, if the other person moves in their sleep or snores that will stop you getting into the deep stages of sleep your body needs to recharge, affecting sleep quality.”

The famous doctor also claims that sharing a bed with your partner could be doing more harm than good. According to Dr. Rajan, if your partner ends up moving around too much or snore, this will most likely prevent you from entering REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the deepest stage of the sleep cycle, the Mirror reports.

As we all know by now, a good night’s sleep is very important for a person’s overall health and wellbeing. In the video, Dr. Rajan also says that a lack of sleep can have a serious physical and psychological impact. But, unfortunately, not everyone shares the same sort of sleep cycle. This means that one partner may well be chronically sleep-deprived, while the other is well-rested.

You also run the risk of overheating when you share a bed with someone, Dr. Rajan said. In the video, he explains: “One of the triggers you need to fall asleep is a drop in core body temperature. Sharing a bed with someone increases body heat so it’s going to take longer to fall asleep.”

His video got hundreds of comments with plenty of people happy to see sleeping alone normalized. Some of Dr. Rajan’s followers agree with the doctor’s opinion, while others can’t imagine falling asleep without their other half by their side. Well, some people don’t even have a choice.

“I don’t got that choice doctor, I’ve always been alone.” one user commented on the video.

“My husband and I have totally different sleep schedules and styles, we have slept separately for eight years, love it!” another user said.

One person commented: “Million percent agree to this, I sleep so much better when my partner isn’t there!”

“My bf and I have deliberately chosen separate rooms. I’m a night owl insomniac  and he’s cutting logs as a grizzly bear. I still hear him from my room.” another user said.
