WPD: Suspect in custody after 20-year-old woman injured in Fairview Ave shooting

Waterloo, IA – Police officials said the shooting occurred right before 9 p.m. Thursday.

It happened in the 800 block of Fairview Ave.

Waterloo Police Department officers responded to a report of a large fight.

The responding officers reportedly found a 20-year-old female gunshot victim, later identified as ShaKarra Graves.

The victim was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening wounds. 

Investigators determined that 20-year-old suspect, later identified as Howard Jamrio Levar Mason, was responsible for shooting Graves.

The 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with: Felon in Possession of a Firearm; Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and Ineligible to Carry a Dangerous Weapon.

This incident remains under investigation.
