Two men arrested on drug, firearm charges after chase, standoff situation
Mason City, IA – According to the police officials, this incident started right after 12 p.m. Friday.
ISP trooper attempted to stop a vehicle west of downtown Mason City.
The driver reportedly refused to stop and and police chase ensued until the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in the 300 block of 1st Street NW.
Both occupants of the vehicle then ran away, officials said.
Multiple agencies responded to assist and a perimeter was quickly secured around the area.
Officials said that one of the suspects was quickly arrested while the other escaped into a nearby home.
Based on the investigation made at the scene, authorities believed the second suspect may have been armed and spent several hours trying to get him to surrender.
At approximately 4 p.m. officers forced their way into the home and used pepper spray.
He was treated at the scene and cleared for transport to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
35-year-old Cody Dakin was arrested and charged with:
- Eluding a Pursuing Law Enforcement Officer
- Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Interference with Official Acts
27-year-old Michael Dalluge was arrested and charged with:
- Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Interference with Official Acts
The Mason City Police Department, the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force Special Operations Group all assisted at the scene.
