The Greene County Sheriff’s Office aided in a recent massive law enforcement effort to crack down on drugs.
The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force – based in Waterloo – along with the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the FBI, with the help of other Iowa law enforcement entities, including the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, have recently seized about 80-pounds of methamphetamine. Seven search warrants were executed on October 30th in Jefferson, Waterloo and Van Horne, where 82-pounds of methamphetamine, ten-pounds of marijuana, 1.5-poiunds of heroin, $28,000 and two firearms were seized. At this time, no arrests have been made.
Other agencies that assisted in the ongoing drug distribution case include the Drug Enforcement Administration, Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force, Central Iowa Drug Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Benton and Tama County Sheriff’s offices, the Iowa State Patrol and the Waterloo Police Department.
