Structure fire on S. Riverside Dr. causes estimated $60,000 in damages, one firefighter injured

Iowa City, IA – According to the Iowa City Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

It happened at 2128 S. Riverside Dr., Unit 46.

Iowa City Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire.

The responding crews saw a large fire in Unit 46, which had also spread to Unit 45.

The occupants of Unit 46 were able to exit the structure. 

Officials said that both fires were brought under control at 7 p.m.

The total loss to both units is estimated at $60,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to the Iowa City Fire Department, one firefighter was injured, treated by the Johnson County Ambulance Service at the scene, and released.

Two pets remain unaccounted for.

No other injuries were reported.
