Man faces multiple charges after police say he fired a gun from inside a residence

Iowa City, IA – According to the Iowa City Police Department, the 29-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday.

His name is Caleb McDowell and he is now facing multiple charges, including: domestic abuse assault; domestic abuse with intent to cause serious injury and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.

This incident occurred on Tuesday in the 100 Block of S. Westminster St.

Iowa City Police Department officers responded for a report of an armed subject.

Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Johnson County Emergency Response Team also responded.

The responding officers discovered that the suspect reportedly fired a gun from inside.

The man surrendered without incident and no injuries were reported.

The suspect was alone in the residence, officials said.
