LCSO deputies responded to a farm accident in a field behind 5847 Troy Mills Road

Linn County, IOWA – According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate incident occurred Saturday afternoon.

It happened in a field behind 5847 Troy Mills Road.

Linn County Sheriff’s deputies, Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue, Troy Mills Fire Department crews, Alburnett Fire Department and Center Point Ambulance crews responded to a farm accident.

On arrival deputies discovered that James Weighton, 52 years old of Central City Iowa, had been using a 1934 John Deere tractor with a plow to plow a field with other members of a local tractor club. Mr. Weighton had been making a turn at the end of the field when his tractor struck a log which was covered by grass at the field edge.

This threw Mr. Weighton from the tractor that he was operating and he was drug approximately 40 yards across the field by the plow before falling free. 

Emergency personnel provided care to Mr. Weighton at the scene and he was airlifted by Lifeguard Air Ambulance to the University of lowa Hospital and Clinics where he is being treated for serious injuries.
