Iowa kindergarten teacher among 117 educators and mentors from around the country being honored with a presidential award

IOWA – According to reports, her name is Angie Bonthuis and she is a kindergarten teacher at Gilbert Elementary School in the Gilbert Community School District.
Bonthuis was reportedly one of two Iowa educators to be honored with a Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
Her award was for teaching mathematics.
Bonthuis was able to showcase her teaching style during the application process with videos.
The Presidential Awards for Excellence is the “highest award kindergarten through 12th grade mathematics and science (including computer science) teachers can receive from the U.S. government,” news release said.
All the winners were praised by President Joe Biden.
