Home on 6th Street SW sustains extensive damage during early Thursday morning fire

Cedar Rapids, IA – According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred around 2:09 a.m. early Thursday morning.
It happened on 6th Street SW.
Cedar Rapids Fire Department crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire.
The responding crews saw smoke coming from the windows.
The responding crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported, officials said.
According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, the home sustained heavy damage to the walls.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
