Cedar Rapids Firefighters responded to structure fire on Johnson Ave NW; no injuries reported

Cedar Rapids, IOWA – Cedar Rapids Fire Department officials said that this unfortunate incident occurred right before 11 p.m. late Sunday night.

It happened at 4920 Johnson Ave NW.

Cedar Rapids Fire Department crews responded to a structure fire. 

Firefighters arrived on scene and found smoke emanating from the 2nd floor and quickly determined there was a working fire in the 2nd floor and attic space above.

Hose-lines were deployed and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Heavy smoke remained and truck crews ventilated the roof to make inspection and continued operations possible.

The fire was deemed under control at approximately 11:30p.m.

There were no occupants present in the building at the time.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
