CFPS: 18-year-old driver arrested, charged with eluding, drag racing

Cedar Falls, IA – According to the Cedar Falls Public Safety, the 18-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday.

His name is Andrew Winters and he is now charged with: eluding; drag racing; reckless driving and speeding.

Right before 10 p.m. late Tuesday night, CFPS officers received a report of two vehicles drag racing southbound on Highway 58 approaching Greenhill Road.

The responding officers observed a white car and a truck begin drag racing southbound on Highway 58 at Greenhill Road.

The officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicles but the white car continued southbound on Highway 58 at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

The white car eventually eluded the police.

The driver of the white vehicle was later identified as 18-year-old Winters.

He was arrested the following day.
