Mother is calling for a middle school teacher to be fired immediately after the educator told the student “N-word, you don’t have the privilege to discriminate against white people because Black people are inferior to white people”
The mother is calling for the teacher to be fired immediately after the educator reportedly told the juvenile boy “N word, you don’t have the privilege to discriminate against white people because Black people are inferior to white people.” The student’s mother also said that her son and the middle school teacher had a discussion about why he didn’t want to be called the N-word. The teacher reportedly asked the boy ‘why does it even bother him if he’s called the N-word because Black people can refer to themselves as the n word, so it shouldn’t bother him. Seven students in the classroom have submitted written statements confirming that the teacher used racist slurs.
The mother from Florida, Aylise Beechem, told First Coast News that she plans to file a lawsuit against the Mandarin Middle School and the DCPS after the unidentified educator called her son the N-word.
Aylise Beechem reportedly told First Coast News: “It upsets me a lot and it upsets him as well to be made that it’s ok, it should be ok because we as Black people say the N word, it should be ok that someone else is allowed to say it, that’s not ok.”
Jasmine Rand, the mother’s attorney, told FCN: “The school has failed repeatedly to hold these students calling him the n word using racism battering him and physically attacking him accountable, but has repeatedly punished him.”
The family’s attorney also said that one of the students who called the 6th grader the N-word also attacked him and took his bookbag. When Beechem’s son defended himself, the school officials suspended him, Rand said.
Aylise Beechem also told First Coast News: “The stress is very, very high. because, at this age in his life, I never wanted him to be going through this. He’s at the prime age of his life. He’s 12-years-old. There’s no way that she should be experiencing racism, especially in school, coming from a teacher or a student.”
According to the student’s mother, in April, the boy told his social studies teacher that a student called him the N-word.
According to CBS47, the family’s lawyer also said: “They began to have a discussion about why he didn’t want to be called the N-word. She told him essentially that, why does it even bother him. Why does he even bother him if he’s called the N-word because Black people can refer to themselves as the n word, so it shouldn’t bother him.
And he asked her, ‘How would you feel if people kept using racial slurs against you and called you a cracker.’ And she said to him, ‘n word, you don’t have the privilege to discriminate against white people because Black people are inferior to white people.”
The mother and the 6th grader reported this incident to the school officials. The principal reportedly told them that the school administrators would conduct an internal investigation, but they wouldn’t notify the superintendent, according to News4Jax.
Luckily, the mother and her son called the superintendent’s office and reported the incident. The mother is calling for the teacher to be fired immediately. However, the teacher was not fired and her son was removed from the classroom instead.
The family’s attorney also told First Coast News that seven students have signed statements confirming the unidentified teacher called the boy the N-word. The lawsuit will also name the principal, the dean and the teacher, the attorney said.
A key demand in the lawsuit is the immediate termination of the teacher from school district employment.
