The 1-year-old from Massachusetts, Bradi Foster, was reportedly born at 25 weeks. Her parents said the baby girl had a series of serious health problems. Unfortunately, she had to undergo cardiac surgery and needed a ventilator and oxygen.
The girl’s mother, Darlene Foster, told WCVB: “All her doctors and her nurses and her respiratory therapist, everybody was there, blowing bubbles and cheering for her. The light at the end of the tunnel after 19 months at the Franciscan Children’s Hospital.
Franciscan’s has gotten her so far with her physical therapist and coming here on complete IV nutrition. Now, she’s completely off of IV nutrition.”
The mom also said that her 1-year-old daughter is starting to eat some pureed food by mouth, but she still needs a gastrostomy tube.
Bradi was sent home with an adaptive backpack, her family said.
According to the health officials, kids put all their feeding equipment in their backpack, and there’s a little tube that goes to them and it gives them full mobility.
Bradi’s mother, Darlene Foster, also said:
“She’s just happy to be alive and happy to love everyone. She has never met the dog, so that’s a big deal. She hasn’t seen her sisters since July, so this is a huge deal, that they finally get to see her.”
The Franciscan Children’s Hospital released the following statement: “After a 9 month stay, Bradi was able to head home after having a celebratory bubble parade! Born at just twenty-five weeks gestation, Bradi has worked hard to get where she is today.
When she first arrived at our hospital, she was ventilator dependent. Since then, she has been weaned off the ventilator and oxygen and has started speaking valve trials. Due to her tracheostomy, these trials test her ability to use a speaking valve safely.
Bradi is now nineteen months old and has been working with her physical therapist on creeping, cruising and her standing balance with the goal of walking. We are incredibly proud of the progress she has made and we will miss her big, bright smile that lights up the room.”
The family has launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe.“Please help in any way you can, even if it’s a share of this link and a prayer. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and love and continued prayers for the life of Bradi Foster.” the page stated.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, little girl. This story will be updated as new information become available.
