Waterloo Police identify victim, suspect in Tuesday morning homicide
Waterloo, IA – One man is dead after he was shot at the four-unit apartment house where his uncle lived, according to Waterloo police.
Police officials said the fatal shooting occurred around 4:10 a.m. early Tuesday morning.
It happened on West 2nd Street.
Waterloo Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.
When the officers arrived on scene, they found one adult male victim.
Police said the 41-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.
He was later identified as 41-year-old LaVance Cooper.
Police officials said the victim’s 58-year-old uncle was arrested Tuesday.
His name is Dorray Cooper and he is now charged with first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
