49-year-old man charged with attempted murder following stabbing on Oakland Rd NE

Cedar Rapids, IA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the 49-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody late Thursday night.

His name is Nickie Williams and he is now charged with attempted murder, wilful injury causing serious injury and assault domestic abuse with intent to inflict serious injury

Williams was arrested following a Thursday night incident in the 3000 block of Oakland Rd NE.

Right after 10 p.m. late Thursday night, CRPD officers responded to a report of a stabbing. 

The responding officers found the female victim with wounds requiring immediate medical attention.

The victim was able to identify the suspect and the responding officers located the 49-year-old in a parking lot in less than an hour.

He was booked into the Linn County Correctional Center.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and was treated for wounds to her throat, back and lung. 

This incident remains under investigation.
