43-year-old woman sentenced to 3 decades in prison for theft, drug charges
Washington, IOWA – According to the court documents, the 43-year-old defendant was sentenced on Friday.
Her name is Mary Brooks and she was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Prosecutors said the defendant pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including: possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, two counts of theft in the second degree and interference with official acts while using or displaying a dangerous weapon.
This incident occurred in August 2020.
Washington Police Department officers reportedly stopped the defendant’s vehicle.
During the traffic stop, the responding officer reportedly discovered that the defendant was driving a stolen car and asked her to step out of the vehicle.
The defendant refused and accelerated the stolen vehicle with the officer holding onto the car.
The officer was injured as a result.
Officers found the stolen car abandoned in a field in Washington with meth inside the vehicle.
