42-year-old suspect in custody following fatal shooting on Northwood Drive NE

Cedar Rapids, IA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, this incident occurred around 9:09 p.m. Friday.

It happened at 3906 Northwood Drive NE.

Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.

The responding officers found one adult male victim.

Police said the 39-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was later identified as Ty Casey.

CRPD officials said that 42-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

His name is James Siegel and he is now charged with first-degree murder.
