29-year-old suspect arrested, charged with attempted murder, domestic abuse assault

Buena Vista County, IA – Police officials said the 29-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday.

His name is Edgardo Ruedas and he is now facing multiple charges, including: attempted murder, willful injury, domestic abuse assault and child endangerment.

This incident occurred right before 12 p.m. Thursday.

It happened in Storm Lake.

Storm Lake Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic assault.

The responding officers made contact with the victim and the suspect.

Police said the unidentified female victim suffered serious wounds to her face and hand.

The responding officers discovered that the 29-year-old suspect attacked the woman in the residence with a large knife, striking her in the face and hand. 

The unidentified female victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The 29-year-old suspect was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail.

This incident remains under investigation.
