20-year-old suspect charged with 1st degree murder in the connection with the shooting death of Courtney Harris

Waterloo, IA – According to the Waterloo Police Department, the 20-year-old suspect was arrested and he was charged on Thursday.

His name is Eugene Love Jr. and he is now charged with 1st Degree Murder in the connection with the shooting death of Courtney Harris.

The fatal shooting occurred on January 8, 2022. 

It happened at 508 Broadway Street.

Waterloo Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.

When the officers arrived on scene, they found the 19-year-old victim.

Police said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

WPD reportedly took the suspect off the street in January for weapon (firearms possession) charges.

The 20-year-old man is in custody at Black Hawk County jail and is not an ongoing danger to the public, police officials said.
